Abstract

A new technique for forehead remodelation as an alternative to alloplastic materials and bone grafts, is presented. The technique is based on the insertion of a cancellous bone graft upon the frontal bone. The way of fixation and modelation of the graft is achieved by making a pocket with a vycril®-collagen absorbable mesh, that gives space for the alocation of the bone between the mesh and the frontal bone. Also the mesh gives isolation to the graft, increasing its osteogenic capacity. We describe the surgical technique showing a clinical case with sequelae of craniosynostosis. A Le Fort lll + I osteotomy and forehead remodelation was performed. We discuss the several types of materials used for cranioplasty. The advantages and disadvantages of these materials and our technique are presented.
