The Twentieth Century started with fast pace of events that allowed social, politic, and economic changes. The International Exhibition of Modern Decorative and Industrial Arts and towns that were rebuilt in France, inspired and translated to architecture aesthetics based on geometry and ornamentation: Art Deco, and from there, it will conquer the whole world. Meanwhile, in Guatemala, an earthquake devastated a young capital that was left on ruins and that will be built again lead by European architects that, along with local professionals, will stretch the limits of the city with the influence of the "modern style". The main commercial street, la "Sexta Avenida': the theaters, and big mansions were a big influence on the low-cost homes, whose decoration is our main object of analysis.
