Abstract

The present paper comes from the reflection carried out after a course imparted to a over 50 year old group, under the title “Titulación en ciencias humanas” inside the “Aulas de la experiencia” Program in the University of The Basque Country. The pedagogical object was to improve in the sound perception in order to achieve a more gratification experience from listening to music. We start from the assumption that of the music is something naturally related to humans. The musical means are what make a work interesting (Bernstein, 2002). The lessons took place two days a week, in sessions of 90 minutes during 15 weeks. Different musical characteristics were studied and we listened to different musical styles from all around the world and belonging to different historical periods. Authors and plays were also studied. The methodology used was based in the auditions of different musical fragments and their analysis, that the students developed guided by the teacher´s questions. The evaluation of the lessons came out very positively. The students recognized an improvement in their listening capacities and the teacher was also very satisfied with the activities carried out, wich came out to be significative, valuable and enriching for everyone.
