Abstract

The landscape was considered the most atractive element of the Basque Country, being the village as inseparable from that as its forests and mountains. Writers, photographers and architects initiated a complex dialogue between farmhouse and landscape, with evocative impressions and interpretations not exempt from ideological nuances. In a time of strong industrialization, the farmhouse was erected as a symbol of a traditional way of life in process of disapppearance and conservation space of the Basque soul.
