Abstract

This report gathers together some of the tendencies in the production of knowledge with respect to feminist criticism in the social sciences as well as how this is reflected in the theorising produced in and around the context of the Basque Country. The first part offers a practical view of feminism, theoretical deconstruction and epistemological proposals from the certainty that knowledge is power. Showing greater attention to feminist anthropology, we will also approach the origin of issues related to androcentrism, ethnocentrism and their implications for so-called «Family Studies» which have held such widespread prestige in the field of the social sciences. In the second part we shall concentrate our attention on the feminist tendency developed in recent years in Basque anthropology and in other social sciences. We will review some of the theoretical contributions produced from the point of gender in the academic field. In this sense we believe it particularly interesting to highlight the contributions made to the analysis and understanding of our social environment from this perspective. We have classified the contributions under three separate headings: nuclei, developments and deviations.
