Abstract
We describe the stratigraphy and sedimentology of the Mid-Upper Albian Motho limestones. Three stratigraphic units with well defined lithologies and geometries have been diferenciated. They represent carbonate ramp and rimmed shelf systems. The later is laterally equivalent to a shallow intraplatform marly basin. The rimmed shelf contains shoal and reefal ("mud mound") subenvironments. The demise of the carbonate platform occerred after subaerial exposure followed by a drowning event.
