Abstract

The preparation of revised geological maps of Extremadura, south-western Spain - an area with important Cadomian successions pertaining to the Ossa Morena (OMZ) and Central Iberian (CIZ) zones has resulted in significant revisions and a greatly improved understanding of the geological evolution of these areas during the Proterozoic-Palaeozoic transition (Ediacaran and Cambrian), which also allows a more detailed comparison to the geological evolution of other areas.
