The relationship between the Commedia and Cervantes masterpiece is far deeper than one might suppose. Beyond the coincidences linked to the biographical events of Cervantes, which confirm the taste and the contaminations of Italian origin in the Cervantes production, in this essay the sources of composition of the supreme work of Cervantes are investigated. They are sources that show how much influence the Commedia dell’Arte exercised on Don Quixote, on a thematic, formative and structural level
