Abstract
This paper presents the analysis of two decades of social change in the Autonomous Community of the Basque Country, based on the analy-sis of the five surveys carried out every five years on the Use of Time. The data point to a society where less time is spent on paid work and training and more on basic needs, care and travel. Throughout these years have lived "classic forms of leisure" such as walking, being with friends, going to the countryside, playing sports, reading, or dancing, with "new forms of entertainment" configured by the world / digital support From which they emerge or by new forms of so-cial interaction, and from their analy-sis we can highlight the idea of the consolidation of leisure as consump-tion. Each time we find more leisure activities less exclusive and that share more than one of the different types, manifestations and possible functions, Highlighting some new idle styles such as the tourist sport, social semiotics, etc. In this context, the variations in the way of occupying leisure time are analyzed: on the one hand, the time dedicated to active leisure in-creases (sport and walks continue in the first line of choice of the Basque population), while time decreases Dedicated to some activities related to passive leisure, and on the other, the characteristics of people who practice different leisure styles over the years analyzed.
