Resumen

In the works on dialectology, the linguistic junction is discussed that is formed by the varieties from Low Deba, a region where many characterizing isoglosses meet. This article tries to throw a little more light on this linguistic crossroads. Both dialectologists and linguists have had their doubts when establishing the limit that marks the end of Biscayan and the beginning of Guipuzcoan in many places that belong to this geographical area (e.g. Larra me di used to say in Elgoibar, and even more in Eibar, the Biscayan dialect begins). On the one hand, after having analysed in detail the Basque from Elgoibar, and using it as a basis, the author wishes to address the place of this variety in the Basque dialectal system (following the lines begun by Zuazo 1999, 2000, 2006), and, on the other hand, he attempts to compare that variety with the surrounding ones to clarify, among other things, the recent evolution of the most significant isoglosses.
