Resumen
During the last stages of the quaternary period important adaptations in human evolution took place. One of them was skin depigmentation duringthe colonization of Eurasia. In this work, from genetic data we show that this process was in fact an adaptive process, favored by natural selection with the goal to synthesize vitamin D in areas of low sunlight. Nevertheless, this adaptation conveys also some risks, maybe not so relevant from an evolutionary point of view but important from the biomedical perspective.
