Resumen

The depositional architecture of a homoclinal carbonate ramp system is investigated. Thesystem belongs to the lower Albian of the Karrantza area in the Basque-Cantabrian Basin. Faciesanalysis and vertical and lateral correlation were used to constrain the system's overallprogradational pattern. The ramp is subdivided into inner and mid-outer facies belts separatedby an intermediate rudist bioherm belt. Thicknesses increase both along depositional dip, towards offshore and also along strike northeastward. These variations are attributed to differentialsubsidence controlled by synsedimentary fault activity.
