Abstract

The aim of this study was to analyze the effect of both halves of soccer matches on the neuromuscular capacity on field (AC) and assistant (AA) soccer referees measured by horizontal jump (HJ). In this study participated 12 AC and 24 AA that officiated 12 official matches of the Spanish Third Division. Before (Pre), at half-time (Desc) and at the end of the matches (Post), the neuromuscular capacity was measured in each participant. Both AC and AA showed a reduction on the HJ capacity (∆% = -2.33 / -3.59%, TE = -0.27 / -0.48, small) at halftime and at the end of the matches with respect to before of the matches. These results suggest that the refereeing activity may induce neuromuscular fatigue, especially in the muscles involved in the application of strength on the anterior-posterior axis.
