Abstract
What is the ultimate mission of the research carried out in the field of management? Does it have a rational and rigorous basis? Is it a high-standard research,relevant and rooted in the reality of the observed phenomena? This article aims at analyzing and discussing these and other interrelated issues, such as the raison d’être and the rational myths of the scholarly research in the field of management, its real usefulness and social contribution, the contribution of the scholarly publications or its connection to the day-to-day reality of the analyzed organizations and companies.
