Horizontal root fractures of maxillary molars with no endodontic treatment is clinical entity with an unknown etiopathogenesis at present. Diagnosis of these fractures represents a challange when traditional radiographic examination is used. The use of Cone Beam Computed Tomography (CBCT) is changing the diagnostic evaluation of endodontically compromised teeth in our daily practice. The use of this complementary exploration radiographic tool, gives invaluable information of molar teeth presenting pulpalperiapical pathosis. This article presents a clinical example of the value of using Cone Beam Computed Tomography (CBCT) for the diagnosis and treatment planning of a maxillary molar with horizontal root fractures and no endodontic treatment.
