Evaluación clínica de una barrera biodegradable en defectos óseos periimplantarios

The efficacy of a biodegradable barrier applied to smaller than 5mm peri-implant dehiscence defects is studied in this paper. A ramdomized prospective double-blinded study was made in 14 paptients (mean 57.3 years). Reabsorbable barriers were used to treat peri-implant surgical defects. The same protocol were followed in all the patients. Bone gain was measured during the implant exposition surgical phase. The mean percentage of bone gain was 84.64%. Regardless of wether autologous grafts were used or not, treatrnent success was statistically significant (p= 0.028). Biodegradable barriers are usefull in the treatment of small peri-implant defects.
