Abstract

This paper shows the applicability of a general Information Extraction technology developed for the extraction of conceptual and factual knowledge from texts, to the specific domain of biomedicine. The rule-based system previously developed for the KYOTO Project is used to extract biomedical events involving proteins or genes from texts annotated in the BioNLP11 Shared Task.
