La obra plástica de Francisco Bringas y Bringas (1827-1855)aldeanos vascos de las cercanías de Bilbao y de Eaux-Bonnes en el siglo XIX

Abstract

Starting points and difficulties encountered in the DOCTORAL THESIS "Francisco Bringas y Brin gas (1827-1855) Plastic Analysis of his Work. Plastic elements and the distribution in his paintings", (investigation done at the Royal Academy of Noble Arts of San Fernando in Madrid, where Francisco was a pupil and the discovery of one of his younger brothers are hightlighted; the latter carried out severa! pieces of work "AFTER" Francisco at the time of and following the former' s death). Bibliographical references are also made which can be consulted to complete the information supplied here. Above ali special emphasis is given to Francisco Bringas' oeuvre which is collected and collated in the epigraph ALDEANOS VASCOS (BASQUE PEASANTS); ali Work uncovered from the second third of C. l 9th. up to the present day is catalogued, which takes in the Peasants of Bilbao, its surrounding areas and Eaux-Bonnes int he French Basque Country (ali investigation carried out in Eaux-Bonnes is taken into consideration), and the importance of these images to analyse C. l 9th clothing of the Basque Peasant is pointed out, the latter being the only reliable sources to illustrate garments from this period.
