In this exploratory and descriptive study carried out with college students, enrolled in four different degrees, at the University of the Basque Country (UPV/EHU, Campus of Gipuzkoa), our purpose was: 1) to describe and compare learning strategies and motivational patterns of university students; 2) to analyse relations between students' learning strategies and their motivational patterns; and 3) to explore possible differences between the learning strategies and motivational patterns employed by students taking different degrees. Data was collected through the CEAM scale: Learning Strategies and Motivation Questionnaire (Ayala, Martínez, and Yuste, 2004), administered to a sample of 144 students. The results show that students tend to have an extensive and varied range of learning strategies and an adequate motivational pattern. We have also observed significantly moderate correlations between some learning strategies used by students and their motivational patterns. Finally, the results confirm that students taking different university degrees have significantly differences learning strategies and motivational patterns. These results could be useful within the context of Convergence of European Higher Education.
