Abstract
This article describes the social protection system in the Autonomous Community of the Basque Country in terms of two of its main dimensions: intensity and effort. The analysis is based on various indicators obtained from information published recently by EUSTAT on social protection spending and income in the Autonomous Community of the Basque Country in 1995 and 1997.
