Resumen

There are a lot of studies about the unequal impact of the economic crisis in different territories, depending on their vulnerability. Since the employment adjustments resulting from it have not ended, it is difficult to draw conclusions. However, this kind of works can help to explain de specific capacity of each place to confront the crisis and also to pose possible solutions. One of the indicators that shows more clearly this unequal vulnerability of the territories is the unemployment rate and its evolution during the years of the economic crisis. Thus, although the municipalities in a region can share many of its characteristics, their evolution can be very different, as the available data show. In this work, we analyze the changes in unemployment rates in the municipalities of the Basque Country in the period 2006‐2016, taking into account not only the temporal evolution but also their spatial distribution patterns.
