Abstract

Dysbindin gene has been related with psychosis, having been studied its relationship with symptomatology, cognition and cerebral variability in patients with this pathology, although more frequently in an advanced state of disease. Because of that, in this thesis is assessed the relationship of five SNPs of this gene (rs2619528, rs2619538, rs2619539, rs3213207 and rs760761) and three haplotypes (GACAC, GAGAC, GTGAC) in a sample of patients with a first episode of non-affective psychosis in the region of Cantabria. Initially, the possible association with psychosis was assessed, comparing this sample with a sample of healthy subjects. Subsequently, the relationship with symptomatology, age of onset and cognitive domains is analyzed. Finally, volume of cerebral structures and cortical thickness in patients are studied, testing it after in healthy subjects. A possible association of this gene variability and specific cognitive domains is detected, as well, as a possible relationship with volume of particular cerebral structures in patients and controls, being the relationship observed between these two groups inverse.
