Abstract

This doctoral thesis intends to study the construction of manor power carried out by representatives of the house of Velasco in the territories of Trasmiera and eastern Cantabria during the period from the fourteenth to sixteenth centuries, studying the parentals and clients networks manipulated by the powerful lineage. Is the examination of this set of interchanges that make up these vast seigneurial networks that allows us to understand how it acquires the political articulation of territorial domain offering a dynamic image in the construction of the manor. In this sense we affirm that the power of the manor should not only be seen as imposition from the top down, but also as a complex negotiation in continuous rearticulation which are involved both sir and their dependents, as the whole communities are found nested within their power.
