Abstract

Behavioural changes in teenagers have been and still are a major source of concern in secondary schools. It is an issue that currently attracts substantial interest, given the high prevalence of the phenomenon due to the numerous problems that affect students and their background context. The aim of this qualitative study is to identify different types of action that are taken to help students in the first four years of secondary education who undergo behavioural changes, while also pinpointing possible obstacles that occur during the course of them that might prevent or hinder the students’ integration. This action consists of ordinary measures aimed at dealing with diversity (educational support) and extraordinary measures that develop into specific programmes for these students: Social & Educational Action Programmes and Educational Action Programmes. Through direct observation at two secondary schools and by conducting interviews and analysing documents, it was possible to identify numerous barriers that these students have to overcome in order to integrate at school and progress in secondary school education.
