Prevalencia y distribución de la inactividad física y el exceso de peso en la población española en edad escolar

Resumen

El objetivo de este trabajo es estudiar la distribución del patrón de actividad física y el estatus de peso de los escolares españoles. La muestra analizada corresponde a 6.803 sujetos en edad escolar (3.491 niños y 3.312 niñas), que tomaron parte en la Encuesta Nacional de Salud de España 2006, siendo representativa de la población objeto de estudio. Se ha evaluado su patrón de actividad física y el índice de masa corporal, estableciendo el exceso de peso a través de estándares internacionales para el IMC. Para establecer las relaciones entre las variables estudiadas, se ha empleado un análisis de regresión logística multinomial. El sedentarismo es más frecuente en escolares que exceden el peso adecuado, existiendo diferencias regionales en la distribución de un estilo de vida sedentario y el exceso de peso, así como en los distintos grupos de edad y sexo. De forma general, un 49,7% de los escolares tienen un patrón de actividad física poco saludable, y un 28,9% exceden el peso recomendable para su edad.
