Abstract

This work takes place inside the theoretical frame of professional ethics and ethical competences between university students and prospective professional workers. There are two key elements regarding professional ethics and its objective in the university research and teaching activities. In one hand, the motivation of young students in this Spanish region (Extremadura) towards their fundamental activity (that is, studying) and the ethic dimension of active professionals. In the other hand, this analysis will be linked with the so-called "internal good" of professions. In this sense, two main aims are presented in this work: the professional ethic sense (internal good of professions) and the motivations of current students, linked with this internal good. To this end, this work analyzes the most influencing factors in the ethic decision making inside university students and graduates about the "internal good" of their profession. This intrinsic value of the professions in the current society is therefore evaluated. The level of ethic perception within professionals of different activities through a survey (sample of 88 non-aleatory subjects during 2009). From these results the social and ethical dimension of professions, as well as the reasons that are conditioning the arousal of corrupt behaviors. These pervert the deep and authentic meaning and sense of any profession. Regarding the universitary students, the empirical results include a survey on more than 1000 students of the five universitary campus in Extremadura.
