Aitor is Professor of Law at the University of the Basque Country (UPV/EHU). He is also affiliated to the ARC Centre of Excellence for Automated Decision-Making and Society (ADM+S) and the International Institute for the Sociology of Law. Aitor has a transdisciplinary academic and professional background in law, sociology, criminology and politics. He was a Postdoctoral Fellow at the University of Melbourne (Law School) node of the ARC Centre of Excellence for Automated Decision-Making and Society (ADM+S) from 2021-2024. Previously, he was a tutor and researcher at the University of Auckland (2016-2019). He was also a visiting scholar at the University of California, Berkeley, Department of Ethnic Studies (2013-2015). Professionally, he has worked as a pro bono lawyer on anti-repressive causes and provided expert advice to political organisations.
