Résumé

The reign of Charles II (1665-1700) was an opportunity for businessmen in Navarre who were at the mercy of the king to develop their business. For this to take place, it was essential to maintain a strong relationship between the elites and the Crown. In the same line, it was vital for the king to receive money to build and conserve fortifications in Pamplona. In this research, we will reveal how a specific incident in 1686 concerning commercial transit almost broke this symbiotic relationship. Using this fact, we will show how the power of the Crown was extended and supported in Navarre in this chronology.
