Abstract

The effort to bring science and technology closer to society has been carried out in very different ways and by personal and professional profiles throughout history, from classical works of ancient Greece, through popular books, newspaper articles, documentaries from film and television or interactive museums, to the possibilities opened up by Internet, from web pages, wikis, blogs or social networks, to streaming content or the new metaverse. Poets, writers, popularizers, journalists, youtubers, podcasters, etc. have produced and continue to produce increasingly varied and complex content and formats. The concepts of Dissemination and Scientific Journalism define part of these initiatives, but do not serve to bring them together. Through the narrative review methodology, this work proposes the use of Public Communication of Science and Technology (CPCT) as a global concept that encompasses these initiatives, present and future, and proposes new lines of research around said concept.
