Résumé

Morgota cave (Kortezubi, Bizkaia) is an abandoned karst groundwater conduit partially clogged by fine sediment. The sediment inside is a varved deposit linked to an intermittent surface run-off process of low energy. Although its chronology is currently unknown, it certainly predates the 12510 ± 40 BP (15,010 to 14,540 cal BP). Moreover, it could be ascribed to any of the cold and wet phases of the Upper Pleistocene. The fill is in excellent state of preservation (there is no evidence of post-depositional erosion). However, the sedimentary beds are tilted as a result of a slow subsidence process of unknown cause
