Abstract

A study of the occlusion and facial growth of complete unilateral cleft lip and palate patients, operated with two different surgical techniques, is done. 54 plaster casts from patients whose palate was operated in two stages, and 16 plaster casts from patients operated in one stage, were used. The Goslon Yardstick classification of the dental models and the digitalization of lateral teleradiography are used for measuring the maxillodental relationship and the growth pattern of the face. Children operated with the two stages palatoplasty technique showed better Goslon Yardstick scores and anteroposterior cephalometric growth than the group operated in a single stage.
