Résumé

The fashion of the so called medieval markets invites reflection on the true origins and development of markets and fairs in the Middle Ages: drivers of economic growth of towns and cities, it is an issue about which we have limited information and perhaps therefore it has been insufficiently treated. In this paper the author studies the example of Vitoria, illustrated with the document of creation of the Thursday free market by Enrique IV of Castilla in 1466.
