Abstract
Early-onset periodontitis ha ve been considered a clinical group of pathologies of limited interest. This is dueto their low prevalence and to the difficulty in the performance of a proper diagnosis and clinical management. The are differential aspect with regard to the rest of periodontopathies, such as their aggressivity, family tendency and a relatively simple early diagnosis. The aim of this article is to review and update the concept, classification, diagnosis and basis for their treatment which may allow a suitable management of these patients.
