La consolidación de la economía productora en el valle medio del Ebro a través de los estudios paleoambientales

Abstract

In this work we present a synthetic view of the palaeoenvironmental data from different archaeological sites located in the mediterranean sector of the Basque Country and Navarre. We aim to present a synthesis of the vegetation history and the anthropic dynamics during the mid/late Neolithic and the Chalcolithic in a very concrect area of the Ebro Valley, providing further reflections about the palaeoeconomic bases of prehistoric groups and the impact of these activities on the landscape. To do this, we have taken into account several palynological studies, both published and unpublished materials. Through studies of pollen, spores and non-pollen palynomorphs we have documented how, after an initial phase of introducing the producing economy during the Early Neolithic, it is during the mid/late Neolithic when is documented the consolidation of agriculture and livestock practices in this area, with a clear intensification trend during the Chalcolithic.
