Zusammenfassung

The aim of this research was to look at the participation of people with physical, sensory and intellectual disabilities in the practice of martial arts or contact sports. For this purpose, the literature between 1990 and 2020 in relation to martial arts and people with disabilities was analyzed. The 33 studies found were classified into two blocks: experimental studies to determine the benefits and non-experimental studies to tailor instruction. The results showed that when martial arts are adapted, all kinds of people participate regardless of their age, gender or ability and bring benefits to all of them. Given the heterogeneity of this group, more research is needed both to determine the benefits and the format of training or competition under equal conditions.
