Abstract

Despite the fact that hormonal contraceptives (HC) have long been available medication, there are still many uncertainties that can be detected on the street. Two of the biggest concerns about HC are those related to the side effects they might have and those related to gender conflict. When it comes to the side effects, most of them are usually mild and temporary. Related to the latter, it has been reported that the prescription process is not entirely adequate, which increases the risk of suffering serious adverse effects. In order to deal with this issue, pharmacotherapeutic care and monitoring are recommended. In addition, when it comes to the gender debate, it is claimed that hormonal contraceptives are one more example of gender non-parity. It is advisable to work more deeply on sex education in schools and to increase the supply of contraception directed at men, underlining the need to commercialize male hormonal contraception.
