Résumé

This article analyzes the extent to which cases of heresy and sorcery that were experienced in the diocese of Calahorra and La Calzada from 1441-1529 served as the basis to Fray Martin de Castañega’s treatise against superstition. To that end, we review the historical context of heresy. The treaty of Fray Martin de Castañega is analyzed in relation to that context and we include information on two new trials against witchcraft in the Basque Country
