Abstract
What is the dependency? How could dependent people get completely integrated within the social and political community? In what measure are we dependent on the attention others give us? Th e answer to these questions is not an evident one to societies in which individual autonomy and equality among persons constitute the moral procedure and dominant policies. Th is issue has been the object of numerous refl ections in sociology and contemporary thought, mainly in Anglo-Saxon countries, which, having witnessed the birth of the ethics of care, have brought to light a few areas of moral and social experience regarded as marginal by traditional theories.
