Abstract
The study analyzed the predictive power of some emotional and behavioral variables in the acceptance by peers, as well as the relation of the latter to child's social satisfaction. The sample was made up of 257 children (7-9 years old). Some behavioral variables, such as aggressive behavior and social competence showed great power to discriminate between accepted and rejected children. Beside them, emotional variables like trusting/anxious, tolerant/irritable, anxiety-depression and emotional regulation also stood out. The latest ones, on their own, showed great predictive value. However, all the predictive variables, as well as the emotional ones on their own, showed great predictive value in boys, but only modest in girls. Moreover, a significant correlation was found between the level of acceptance by peers and child's satisfaction.
