Zusammenfassung

here is a great debate referred to the time and mode of dog domestication. The place of origin has also been controversial. The paleogenetics may greatly contribute to this debate providing data of ancient canis. In the present study, evidence of an exceptional canid fossil from the site of Erralla (Zestoa, Gipuzkoa) is provided. A humerus remain from a canid specimen was found in a Lower Cantabrian Magdalenian level, however no direct dating existed up to the present. Direct AMS dating and a genetic analysis of cytochrome B gene support that it is most ancient domestic dog from Europe
