Abstract

36 samples of water, soil, and plants collected in several points of the Ebro river basin were analyzed to determine the isotopic composition of the bioavailable strontium and to obtain the geographical distribution of 87Sr/86Sr ratio. The studied materials show significant differences in the isotopic composition of strontium in some sampling points. In general, bioavailable strontium is conditionedmainly by the regional geology. Water samples show larger isotopic variability than soils and plants related to the geological materials of the catchment area. The low variation in isotope composition of plants and soils could be biased by strontium from atmospheric aerosols.
