Résumé

The aim of this paper is to analyze the concept of tacit knowledge and frameworks of analysis developed in some disciplines, to explore the possibilities of applying this concept in the field of science policy. For that purpose, we study the social conditions that favour the existence of tacit knowledge in science policy and we will identify the effects of this phenomenon in the forms of science governance. The main assumption made that we want to check is that the existing knowledge in science policy in Spain is tacit knowledge, which consists mainly of the experience and talent that those professionals who take positions in science government, active researchers, incorporate, for a time, into the work of management. Methodological tools used in this research, are personal interviews that are the professional life stories of 75 relevant people in the last 25 years in spanish science policy. There will be a thorough analysis of various documents to know the decision-making in this area and, finally, a survey of people who currently hold positions of responsibility in science governance that allows a comparative analysis.
