Zusammenfassung
The Camarillas Formation in the Galve sub-basin isa thick unit(> 300 m)mainly consisting ofsiliciclastic deposits (shales and sandstones) and scarcedevelopment of carbonatefacies. The study of sedimentary facies has allowed therecognitionof30 facies associations of transitional environments and, based on their lateral and vertical relationships, thecharacterization of itsstratigraphic architecture. We reinterpretthe sedimentary environment of the Camarillas Fm and distinguish three main sedimentary stages in its evolution. Stage 1 represents a tide-dominated estuary with fluvial and, then, tidal facies. Stage 2 is a tide-and wave-dominated estuary with internal, central and distal and more open marinefacies. Stage 3 isa barrier island-lagoon system in which facies associations of internal, external and open marinesubenvironmentsof the system have been recognized.
