Résumé
This paper highlights the new significance of industrial policy as a result of economic globalization and technological change. It then summarizes the policies developed by the central and regional governments in 1995, and analyzes their consequences with respect to regional development. It underscores the strong decentralization of Spain's industrial policy in thepast decade and the resulting new role of the centralgovernment, now more focused on coordinating efforts and guaranteeing global strategy than on direct contact with the firms involved in the programs.
