Résumé
This article analyzes the figure of the entrepreneur Martín López de Isasi (Eibar, 1525-1597), who developed his activity in different economic sectors such as whaling, maritime and land transport, the promotion of metallurgical industries, and the marketing and distribution of products which emerged as a result. Furthermore, with frequent interventions as an intermediary and financial adviser, Isasi became the first modern Guipuzcoan entrepreneur in the Chandlerian sense, i.e., as someone who produces and distributes on a large scale, and who also innovates the management of their business.
