Zusammenfassung

Belief-attitude relations, as well as different normative regulations in the explanation of stereotypes and prejudices toward immigrants are analysed in two studies. It is found in both of them that free-response measures of beliefs show a highly consistent relation with attitudes. Similarly, the evaluation of immigrants turns out to be more positive under individual normative conditions than under substitution ones. The second study focuses on the differential evaluation of Argentinian vs. Morrocan immigrant groups. Finally, the relevance of the theory of Social Representations for the explanation of the different rationales imposed by the metasystem on cognitive operations is emphasized.
