Résumé

This paper shows a graphical method of compensation based on the use of PID controllers in the frequency domain. Families of PID controllers are designed having in mind their design simplicity and the fulfillment of suited relative stability performances being identical among all the members of such families. In the same way, another modification of the open-loop transfer function of the uncompensated system will be designed, so that prescribed stability margins are achieved. Both Black plots are drawn in the same gain-phase plane. The crossing points between them allow the design of PID controller families that satisfy frequency specifications about relative stability which are prefixed by the designer, like the phase or gain margins, and bandwidth.
