Résumé

Stomoxys calcitrans is a hematophagous fly that feeds on the blood of livestock and of nearby humans. The presence of this fly in Biscay is known from a vague record dating to the beginning of the last century in the surroundings of Bilbao. Samples taken at different livestock yards, as well as structures where cattle, pigs, and horses are held, confirm the presence of the fly in the Spanish province of Biscay as well as its prevalence in areas where livestock are held
