Les mobilitzacions ciutadanes a Mallorca durant l’etapa autonòmica (1983- 2013) en defensa del territori, els drets socials, la cultura i l’autogovern

Résumé

The Mallorcan society, since the creation of the Autonomous Community of the Balearic Islands (1983), has experienced a unique and distinct political dynamic in which citizen mobilizations have played a prominent role. The great majority of large protests that have taken place in Mallorca during the autonomic stage have been focused on demands for protection of the landscape, for the defense of social rights and respect for national culture and self-government. The most important examples are the mobilization for the protection of the Cabrera archipelago in the 1980s, the general strike of December 14, 1988, the defense of the Natural Spaces Act (1992), the OCB’s Day (1995), protest against the proliferation of urbanization (1998), demonstration against the construction of new motorways (2004), protest in defense of territory and the environment (2007), the 15-M movement of 2011, the general strike of November 14, 2012, the defense of the Catalan language and against the Law on Public Function (2012) and protest against the Decree of Integral Treatment of Languages (2013) . Citizen mobilizations between 1983 and 2013 have been a major social and political catalyst in Mallorca both for its objectives, for the repertoire of collective action, for the claims they have made and for the impact they have had on the other social agents, (both public and private).
